Who I Am.

Omari Souza is a design researcher whose work examines the intersections between African American History, Culture, and Western Advertising. The purpose of this investigation is to explore how the visual images we consume influence racial bias.

As an educator, Omari brings into the classroom questions about ethical design and responsibility. As design citizens, we have a responsibility for our creations. Not to the person who initiates us to make it, but to the person who is impacted by it.

Omari is well-versed in the areas of social innovation, racism, and community in design.Past Lectures Topics Include but are not limited to Racist Motifs in Every Day Branding, The State of Black Design, Design for Social Innovation, Diversity in Design Practice, Design + Community Engagement.
